Yesterday was the day after Mardi Gras (aka the most depressing day of the year for anyone who isn’t Jewish) and for those of Catholic persuasion, it’s a day to put a target on your forehead so people know who not to let their children around. It’s like bearing the Scarlet A, but you know, a T for (Tiny Tot Tickler). Well now you can bear your cross in no time at all with drive-thru churches.
An Ohio church is offering drive-through Ash Wednesday blessings for locals looking to fulfill their Lenten obligations on the go.
The Rev. Patricia Anderson Cook of Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church told the Cincinnati Inquirer newspaper that she would be in the church’s parking lot starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday ready to blacken the foreheads of passing commuters, Christian or not.
“Some people are very busy, and some people get a little intimidated walking into a church; this is for them,” she said.
“It’s a drive-through, not a drive-by,” she added.
