Girl Spends $1,000 On Prom & Barred From Going Solo
Prom is a special time for high school girls, but this teenage girl will likely miss out on that experience as she won’t be allowed to attend solo.
Amanda Dougherty, 17, told CBS Philadelphia that she was shocked when officials at Archbishop John Carroll High School told her she was not allowed to go without a date because of a rule by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
“For them to say we’re not good enough to go without a guy next to us, that’s kind of sickening,” she told the TV station. Amanda has already shelled out nearly $1,000 on her prom attire and tickets, and had been comparing dresses with her friends on a Facebook page that was “blocked so the guys couldn’t see it,” she said.
Teacher Calls Students Stupid In Her Blog
It’s common to have a blog in this day and age, but is it now going to be on the list of things teachers have to avoid to maintain a credible image for their career? This teacher is being scrutinized for her brutal honesty in her personal blog.
More than 200 parents have told a Pennsylvania school district they don’t want their children taught by a teacher who called students “frightfully dim” and “disengaged, lazy whiners” on her personal blog.
Central Bucks East High School Superintendent Robert Laws say he expects the district to get “a lot more requests” from parents who want to keep their children away from English teacher Natalie Munroe.
The Doylestown Intelligencer reports 62 requests came from parents whose children were scheduled to be in Munroe’s classes.
