Does This Glow In The Dark Kitten Have The Cure For AIDS?
These cats were injected with a serum to help them be more resistant to cat AIDS (yes, it’s a real epidemic). A fluorescent protein common in jellyfish was also injected into these cats, but before PETA gets a hold of these cats to whom they make love and a hold of their owners to crucify, there may be a break through in the research helping the fight against AIDS.
FIV infects mostly feral cats, of which there are half a billion in the world, Dr Poeschla said. It is transmitted by biting, largely by males defending their territory, but companion cats are affected as well.
