‘As children, we weren’t encouraged to focus on material things. I was usually out in the fields – I always loved flowers and nature. My brother and I would sometimes eat our meals up trees. It was idyllic. I had real freedom.

‘I am very grateful that there was never a sense that you did something just because everyone else did it. I’ve carried on that principle.

In the days before iPhone 5′s release a local Fox station was tricked into believing that the iPhone 5 had a laser keyboard and holographic screens and reported it without fact-checking.

Starting off as a seemingly mild report on the lines that are already forming for the new Apple smartphone, Fox then cuts to a short clip of someone holding a paper-thin concept phone with a much larger screen than the actual iPhone 5 boasts. Then, to top it all off, the reporter lists the exciting new features of the phone, including (and try to keep from laughing) a laser keyboard and holographic images.

Study Finds That Most Americans Think “Cloud Computing” Is Weather-Based

We aren’t all computer scientists or electrical engineers, but that could mean that sometimes a tech-savvy turn-of-phrase can be taken a bit too literally.

Of the 1,004 people surveyed, the majority thought the term “the cloud” was related to actual clouds in the sky and 29 percent thought it had to do with weather conditions. Only 16 percent recognized the cloud as the common term when referring to a computer network that stores data for Internet-connected devices like laptops, tablets and smartphones.

It seems like everyone is on this Apple iPad bandwagon. It’s so popular that it’s starting to branch outside of our species.

As part of a program called Apps for Apes, 12 zoos across the two countries have been incorporating iPads into the enrichment time allotted for orangutans, the giant furry red primates native to Indonesia and Malaysia.

Science fiction is becoming less and less of a fantasy now that these two prominent colleges are promising artificial human tissue.

To create the cybernetic tissue, researchers first created a mesh of wires as small as 80 nanometers in diameter. Cell cultures were then added, and allowed to grow around the artificial wiring. So far, researchers have grown fully-wired heart and nerve tissue complexes.
